Privacy policy

How this website handles personal data, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who we are

This website about the history of N.V. Overschiesche Land- en Tuinbouw Maatschappij is published by the De Kroes family (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the processing of personal data on this website. You can reach us through the question form.

What data we collect

We only process data that you give us yourself, or that is needed to run the website securely:

  • Question form: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
  • Public reactions: your name, email address, your reaction and the IP address and browser of the device you use. Your email address is never published.
  • Security: the IP address of anyone who tries to log in to the administration area, to block repeated failed attempts.

We do not use the website to build profiles, and we do not sell or rent your data.

Why we use it

  • To answer your question or contribution. Legal basis: your consent, which you give with the checkbox on the form.
  • To publish and moderate reactions. Legal basis: your consent when you post a reaction.
  • To protect the website against spam and hacking. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure website.

How long we keep it

  • Messages from the question form: up to two years after the last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Reactions: as long as they are published. You can ask us to remove your reaction at any time.
  • IP addresses of spam or login attempts: no longer than needed for security, normally a few weeks.

Who receives your data

Your messages are stored on the server of our hosting provider and sent to us by email. We do not share your data with other parties, except:

  • Translation: when you choose another language, the page is translated by Google Translate through the GTranslate service. Your browser then connects to Google, which receives your IP address. See the Google privacy policy.
  • When we are legally required to do so.

Fonts are loaded from our own server, not from Google.

Photographs and personal stories

If you send us photographs, documents or memories, we will only publish them on the website with your permission, and with your name only if you want it to appear. Many people appear in the archive photographs on this site. If you or a relative appear in a photograph and you would like it removed or described differently, please let us know.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive your data in a common format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Send your request through the question form. We will reply within one month.

If you believe we handle your data incorrectly, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
